With Back to School here many parents wonder what the school year will bring. Especially if their child is going to a new school. Will they succeed? Will they make friends? Will they be bullied? Will their self esteem drop? Its tough for kids out there these days.

This is why Brazilian Jiujitsu(BJJ) has been proven time and time again to be such a strong base for children. No matter what happens they will have the confidence to stand up for themselves and they will have confidence in their abilities and decision making. With BJJ its not just talk! Its a practical and realistic system that they can apply relatively quick.

At Blind Fury BJJ we teach Kids to fight fire with water. We do not believe in injuring the bully unless they have given us no other option. Our method has been proven with our Jiujitsu Kids. They learn to subdue the bully and negotiate. With knowledge comes power and with power responsibility! Give you child Confidence and other life skills they need this year!

Its a tough time of the year especially this year! In Georgia the Flu epidemic is shutting schools down and making people miss work. In the last week I have had to spend a few days in bed due to illness. I missed a big event I had planned for months last weekend and this week I have missed days teaching due to a high fever.  Thankfully with adequate rest and medication my fever has subsided.



What should you do if you get sick and want to train? Don’t train is the answer! While it may be tempting to train it is very inconsiderate. That is why when I run a fever I don’t come around the school. I’d rather be training but I know I would not want to get anyone else sick.


if you have been sick, are sick or getting sick. Please be courteous enough to get well before training. Everything is hands one especially martial arts.

I don’t want to come across too firmly but i will ask you to leave if you dont adhere to this common sense rule.

Fever= don’t train
Coughing and Congested = don’t train
Throwing up or diarreah​ = don’t train 4 days (minimum) after you were last sick.
Kids sick = don’t bring them with you.

Lysol, germx or antibiotics does NOT kill stomach bugs. Wash your hands with soap and clean with bleach.

If you have a fever… You Are contagious.

No exceptions.

Teaching kids is one of the most rewarding ventures I have ever taken upon myself to do. Its truly amazing to watch them grow and flourish over time. No matter how good they become at Jiujitsu its the life skills that matter the most. It all starts with respect.



What is respect? Its defined as holding something in high regard. If you respect someone you value their thoughts and opinions. You do not want to let them down and you want them to be proud of you. You wish to be respected you must first give respect.


At Jiujitsu Columbus we get kids doing this everyday. From bowing on and off the mat, using courtesy phrases, and respecting each other. Jiujitsu is a very demanding art even for kids. To get the most out of training and class they must respect the Professor and their partners. Even our Mini Blinds class( 4-6 year olds) the kids must use courtesy phrases and show respect at home. We have had great success by working with parents to reinforce good habits at home and school.

If you are having a stressful day BJJ will help you get some of that energy out! There is something about the drills and the moves that help you feel better and more positive after. I know when I’m feeling stressed out at the end of a long day a good BJJ class seems to make me forget what was stressing me out in the first place. I’m usually too tired to care if I remember anyway!

A series of unfortunate events

Last year I had reconstructive knee surgery and I gained about 6 pounds. This year I had neck surgery and I gained another 5lbs.


I’m not worried though! I’m ready to get in the best shape since I was 25 this year! Unlike when I was 25 though I’m a bit wiser and I have a way better plan. If you join me you can benefit from this plan too


You see, I have been fortunate to have not only been trained by some of the best athletes and trainers  on the planet but I have also trained some top level Pro athletes. Not only that but I have helped everyday people meet and BEAT their fitness goals and its really easy. Keep reading because this is how we are going to do it!


If you want to go fast go alone, if you want to go far go together

As I have said before working out alone is ok but in a group setting its better! Why? Because in a group you will receive help and that is really important no matter what fitness level you are. If you are new to a workout you can make sure you wont cause any damage! Working out really wont account for much if you end up getting hurt. If you are experienced you can make sure you don’t have any bad habits  and you may change up the routine a bit with even some small tips

Another great benefit of training with a group is you will make friends! Sitting at work all day thinking about getting to see friends and working out with them will keep you coming back to train! Plus if they are more experienced they will help make sure you experience success!


Kickboxing rocks!

In a study by ACE ( American Council on Exercise ) people can burn up to 500 Calories an hour with Kickboxing! Not only is it a great workout but its also really fun! There are a lot of places that have kickboxing but I tend to want some sort of practical application if I’m training. I’d like to be able to defend myself if necessary so a bag hitting class or a place that doesn’t offer much in that area doesn’t hold much interest for me.

What’s really sad is that there are places that offer only bag hitting classes but allude to it as REAL self defense. Sorry but that is dangerous! It may be  good workout but that is like saying Zumba makes you a great dancer!

Let’s get some real skills while having fun and getting a great workout! Kickboxing kickbox2is king! Our program has all the benefits but in a safe and encouraging atmosphere. Lots of hitting stuff and drills to get you in shape AND ready for whatever may come! Plus its the basis of our Krav Maga program! With that you’ll develop real skills and real confidence!

Programs that offer high intensity without recovery in mind is only setting you up for injury! Its that time again! Time for presents and being with friends and family! Also the time to gain weight!


If you are already thinking about losing weight in 2017 you aren’t alone. Every year millions of people make losing weight their primary goal just to see themselves in the same place the following year. That’s why martial arts is the answer!

Sure we have students that have lost 40lbs in two months but honestly that wasn’t even what they were at our school for. They wanted a fun activity and they wanted to learn how to defend themselves. Its the other students and instructors that kept them WANTING to come to class.
